Dream Deck Part 4- The Foundation

It doesn’t take an expert contractor to know that the strength, integrity and lifespan of any structure is based on the quality of its foundation. For the Glickman deck this was especially true because of the extreme weight of the massive main level and the 2nd floor balcony. Also, the cinder block construction of the decks foundation served as the homes lower level expansion which included a new utility room and entrance to the back yard from the basement level.

Russ Glickman bought in several of his masons to construct the foundation and then the carpenters got to work building out the framing for the main deck. If you look closely, a “4 legged” building inspector showed up to survey the project when no one was watching.

As you follow along with the Glickman deck construction, we invite you to imagine how a new deck on the back of your home would enhance your quality of life and make your home Yours.
